Because viral hepatitis is such a prevalent and serious disease, it is vital that you understand how it affects the liver including the symptoms, complications, and treatment. This course will start out with a review of liver disease and viral hepatitis to allow for a base understanding then will discuss the risk factors, mode of transmission, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention measures for Hepatitis A, B, and C.

Rebecca Smallwood, MBA, RN, has over 25 years of experience across a spectrum of healthcare settings including: rural and urban acute care hospitals, public health, ambulatory surgery center, higher education, and commercial organizations. Her roles have included: medical/surgical, ED, and OR staff nurse and charge nurse positions; director of health services / school nurse for PK-12th grades; public health epidemiology and bioterrorism preparedness professional; Infection control practitioner; quality management specialist; organizational development specialist; and educator.
