Common Medications and Their Side Effects

Common Medications and Their Side Effects

Most medications have the potential for side effects, ranging from mild to life-threatening. Caregivers involved in medication administration or assisting individuals with self-administration need to understand the medication classes. In this course, you will learn about the indications, side effects, and precautions for common classes of medications. The indications, side effects, and precautions of medication can vary greatly even among the same class. Therefore, you must be familiar with the specific medication being given. Consult a drug reference or your supervisor if you have any questions. Remember to operate within your scope of practice and follow your organization’s policies and procedures and the individual’s plan of care.
