All hospice and palliative care providers require a thorough understanding of the physical changes commonly experienced by dying persons. This presentation provides a practical and useful approach and language for healthcare professionals to help patients and families face fears about dying. Physical changes associated with dying are examined, including changes in energy and appetite, terminal agitation, and end of life visions. By understanding what to expect during the dying process, you will be better prepared to educate patients and families and have the skills necessary to promote comfort at the end of life.
