QAPI for Home Health

QAPI for Home Health

There is no doubt that improving the quality of healthcare services has been a national priority in the United States for the last several decades, and home health care is no exception. Since the beginning of OASIS in 1999, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has required home health agencies to assess and report the quality of delivered care and seek ways to improve client outcomes. To further emphasize the importance of quality healthcare, CMS developed the Home Health Compare website, which publicly reports OASIS-based quality performance information (CMS, 2014a). Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) is a tool that home health agencies use to help identify issues within their organization and with the care delivered to client. Once identified, QAPI allows the agency to focus their goals and create a plan that will guide them to improvement. This course provides you a basic understanding of the use of QAPI in home health agencies. In this course, you will learn the role QAPI has in improving healthcare quality and the fundamental principles of QAPI.
