This course is designed for peace officers in need of, or interested in, developing basic crisis negotiation skills. It includes critical information for law enforcement agencies that do not have the immediate availability of negotiator resources, and are developing internal resources. There are two part to this course, this is Part I. We discuss team organization and various protocols and skill sets necessary to respond to crisis situations, which can involve hostage-taking, barricaded mentally ill subjects, suicide by COP, peace officers in crisis who take hostages, domestic violence calls, and more.

David Lee Salmon has a BS in Criminal Justice from San Houston State University, Texas. David's background includes being a Law Enforcement and Jail Risk Manager, as well as having served in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence. He currently is the OSS Academy Training Coordinator, based in Texas, providing Law Enforcement and Corrections staff with online training. David also serves as the Vice-President of the OSS Law Enforcement Advisors, which provides risk management services, expert witness services, training programs, and law enforcement management tools.
