Bullying Prevention and Intervention

Bullying Prevention and Intervention

Bullying in schools is no longer regarded as a minor incident that happens on the playground. It is a troubling issue that can result in very serious and enduring complications for both the youths and adults directly involved as well as the community at large. In this course, you will learn exactly what bullying is so that you can distinguish bullying from other types of conflict and explore its causes and effects. You will gain an understanding of typical roles that bullies, victims, and bystanders play along with methods for intervening with each of these players. You will have a chance to practice specific bullying prevention techniques that have been shown to be effective with various populations and environments. You also will learn about the legal issues involved in bullying and the steps that many states have taken to support anti-bullying efforts. This course is designed for entry- and intermediate-level healthcare professionals. Vignettes and interactive exercises give you the opportunity to apply this information to situations that you may experience in your school or other youth environment.
