This course is designed for physical and occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals working with patients suffering from balance disorders, falls, movement disorders, or dizziness/vertigo. This training will cover the anatomy and physiology of the vestibular system, the inner ear, oculomotor and somatosensory systems, current medical assessments and treatments and the impact of dizziness and balance problems on the quality of life affecting older adults. After this training clinicians will have the tools to assess and treat many dizziness and balance disorders in their practice settings. The clinician will gain a thorough understanding of various categories of vestibular disorders in order to provide effective and evidence-based treatment.

Geoff Mosley graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1997 with a Bachelors of Health Science in Physical Therapy. He received board certification in neurological physical therapy in 2001 from the American Physical Therapy Board of Specialties (and recently recertified in 2011). He then attended and earned certification in vestibular rehabilitation at Emory University’s annual course directed by Susan Herdman in 2003. He has also in the past received certification from RESNA as an Assistive Technology Provider (ATP). He is the coordinator of physical therapy services at Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mount Vernon, MO, where he has worked since graduation in inpatient neurological rehabilitation. Renée Lach, PT, MS, GCS, CEEAA, MSCS is a physical therapist with over 20 years of experience working with the elderly in home health, long- term care, acute hospitals, and rehabilitation departments. She received her Masters in Physical Therapy from Duke University. She is a Board Certified Geriatric Specialist (GCS) and a Certified Exercise Expert in Aging Adults (CEEAA) through the American Physical Therapy Association's Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy. She is also a Multiple Sclerosis Certified Specialist through the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC). Renée has lectured nationally in the areas of neurological disorders, vestibular rehabilitation, and fall prevention in the elderly. Throughout her career, Renee has served in both clinical and administrative roles as well as serving as adjunct faculty for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Eastern Washington University. She has served as Clinical Specialist for both a home health and skilled nursing company and was responsible for the clinical integrity and development of clinical programs. She is an advocate for evidence-based practice and incorporates it into her patient care and her courses. Renée also serves on the Fall Free Spokane Coalition, a community based task force striving to reduce falls in the elderly in her area. Beth Weldon, PT, is a physical therapist with over 25 years’ experience working with geriatric patients in the home care setting. Beth received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Memphis where she majored in Physical Therapy. Throughout her career she has served in both clinical and management roles, including staff therapist, Director of Rehab Services, and Therapy Manager. Currently she is the Regional Therapy Director at LHC Group in the Beltway Division. Beth is a subject matter expert and presenter.
