End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)- Dietary Considerations and the Dialysis Patient

This is the third presentation in a six part, pre-recorded webinar series titled: Management Tools for Persons with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). This series of lectures will address some of the issues commonly encountered in the care of dialysis patients. After an overview of the demographics of the ESRD population in the United States, we will review some of the chief problems associated with dialysis patients, including the psychosocial impact of ESRD and dialysis on patients and their families and the complicated and broad dietary restrictions for ESRD patients. We will also go over some of the clinical problems and controversies of ESRD therapy, including dialysis access creation, maintenance, and care, dialysis clearances, dietary strategies, blood pressure abnormalities on dialysis, and anemia in ESRD. This is an advanced course designed for clinicians with experience caring for patients with renal disease.
