Diabetes and CVD: Metabolic Syndrome

Diabetes and CVD: Metabolic Syndrome

This is the first presentation in a six part, pre-recorded webinar series titled: Diabetes Management and Cardiovascular Disease, Updated. According to the Centers for Disease Controls 2011 Diabetes Fact Sheet, heart disease was noted in 68% of diabetes-related deaths among people aged 65 years or older, and adults with diabetes have heart disease death rates about 2-4 times higher than adults without diabetes. 67% of adults with diabetes have blood pressure greater than or equal to 140/90. During this series of six webinar presentations we will review the pathophysiology of CVD and identify risk factors, and interventions for metabolic syndrome, dyslipidemia, and hypertension. Considerations for nutritional guidelines and physical activity will also be included. This course is designed to provide you with the most current information on these topics.
