Anger is a universal emotion. Anger that is expressed in indirect, passive, or aggressive ways can cause problems in many aspects of your life. Anger that is recognized and managed effectively can actually serve to energize healthy, productive behaviors. This course will provide the learner with a basic understanding of anger and describe techniques for managing anger in the workplace.

Dr. Jeff Kulley has over 20 years of experience as a psychologist and administrator in university counseling center settings. In his early career, he led domestic violence prevention groups for court-mandated offenders at a clinic in Austin, Texas. He worked with this clinic for 8 years and eventually trained and supervised other group facilitators. Anger management and violence prevention have been areas of interest and expertise for him since that time. Jeff worked as a staff psychologist at The University of Texas at Austin’s Counseling and Mental Health Center for 7 years prior to relocating to Durham, North Carolina, where he is currently the Clinical Director at Duke University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). In addition to overseeing clinical services at Duke CAPS, he maintains his own part-time psychotherapy practice and works as a private consultant in the area of college student mental health. Jeff is an expert in risk assessment, crisis consultation and mental health ethics and law. In his direct clinical service at Duke and in his private practice, Jeff specializes in the assessment and treatment of addiction, trauma, and anger management problems. In his non-professional life, he is an avid bass angler and spectator sports enthusiast (Go Horns!). Education: Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology, The University of Texas at Austin; Bachelor of Arts with Highest Honors in Psychology, The University of Texas at Austin.
