Attachment Disorders: Theoretical and Treatment Issues

Attachment Disorders: Theoretical and Treatment Issues

As a mental health professional, you know that the relationship an individual had with his or her primary caregivers as a child is important to that individual’s healthy development as an adult. However, when a child’s needs are not met by a primary caregiver, it can result in an attachment disorder, potentially causing a host of difficulties for that individual. This course will provide you with historical and up-to-date information on attachment disorders to help you better serve consumers. In addition to gaining insight into the theoretical perspectives on attachment, you will learn how to recognize and assess attachment disorders. Additionally, you will learn how attachments are formed and some of the reasons that they can sometimes go awry. Finally, you will be provided with a tool chest of interventions that you can use to work with consumers who have disordered attachment. Hence, after completing this course, you should be better equipped to help individuals with attachment disorders conceptualize and overcome difficulties related to attachment. The course, which is appropriate for all mental health professionals, uses interactive exercises to enhance your learning experience.
