Early CPR and defibrillation represent definitive interventions in cardiopulmonary arrest. The automated external defibrillator (AED) has greatly improved the accessibility of defibrillation and has made it available when it can be most effective. Healthcare providers who encounter arrest in nonclinical settings must be knowledgeable regarding the use of the AED for both the adult and pediatric populations.
The goal of this course is to provide nurses with updated information on the correct use of automated external defibrillators.
