Understanding the Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) instrument is required of all home health clinicians who participate in completion of the OASIS. Transitioning from OASIS-D1 to OASIS-E may have its challenges. However, with a good foundation and practice, gaining proficiency in OASIS-E can be achieved. This module describes the history and purpose of the OASIS, and identifies who can complete the OASIS-E assessment. It reviews time points during the episode of care during which the OASIS is completed and reviews guidance available to code it accurately.
Note: Unless otherwise stated, the information contained in this course was sourced from the OASIS-E Guidance Manual published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (2022b).
