Epilepsy, also known as a seizure disorder, affects over 50 million people globally and 3 million people in the U.S. Over 150,000 new cases are diagnosed every year (Mass General Brigham Mass General for Children [MGBC], 2022). Seizure disorders are a heterogeneous group of disorders that have a common thread of abnormal nerve cell (neuronal) activity that misfire, producing seizures. The course will provide both prehospital emergency medical service (EMS) as well as hospital and outpatient (community) nursing professionals with a high-level overview of seizure disorder knowledge and management.
