Dr. Merriman discusses data elements and how they are used to construct quality indicators, and introduces the concept of a framework for selecting and organizing quality measurement information. Practical examples for use are provided.

Dr. Melanie P. Merriman, founder of Touchstone Consulting, provides clients with quality measurement, market research, strategic planning, and program evaluation services with a focus on chronic illness and end-of-life care. Recent clients include The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
