Shawn is the Commander of the Broomfield Detention Center; a 224-bed City/County Detention Facility. He serves on the AJA Board of Directors as the 1st Vice President. He has presented at AJA & NCCHC and has worked in corrections for 27 years in all areas of Corrections. He is a recognized expert in both state and federal court regarding correctional operations. Additionally, he has been an instructor for the County Sheriffs of Colorado for 12 years in all aspects of jail operations and serves as an S.M.E. for curriculum development. He is the past Sectary of the Colorado Jail Association. Shawn holds an M.A. degree in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Colorado and has been a Certified Jail Manager since 2005. He is a graduate of the National Jail Leadership Command Academy #3. His innovative programs and partnerships have been recognized by the State of Colorado and DOJ as models for other facilities.
