Modern pulmonary function testing includes a range of diagnostic procedures that can grant significant insights into an individual’s pulmonary status. While simple bedside spirometry procedures provide useful information, there is a range of more advanced tests that are less practical to be conducted outside of a pulmonary function laboratory. This course briefly reviews basic spirometric values and provides detailed information regarding the measurement of volumes and capacities that require advanced equipment. Information is also provided regarding quality assurance in pulmonary function testing, along with device selection and calibration.
