Ethical issues and dilemmas are inherent in care provided to children and their families in palliative care. It is important that healthcare professionals are aware of and have access to a wide variety of professional codes and standards that serve to facilitate resolution of ethical dilemmas. In this course, you will learn about some of the common ethical issues encountered in pediatric palliative care and ways to address these issues. Amy Haskamp is a Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Pediatric Palliative Care Team (PACT) at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health Hospital. She has over 16 years of experience caring for children with cancer before joining PACT in 2014. Working with the oncology population, she became interested in pain management, psychosocial support, and pediatric palliative care. She lectures and teaches at the local, national, and international level, and has been a member of the ELNEC pediatric faculty since 2011.
