Clostridioides difficile (C. difficile or C. diff) is a germ that causes severe diarrhea and colitis that most often occurs when an individual has been taking antibiotics or not long after the antibiotics are completed. This course discusses the pathophysiology of C. difficile and associated risk factors. It also discusses treatment options and how to control and prevent the spread of the disease. Without the use of effective infection prevention and control measures, C. difficile spreads easily in healthcare settings.
