Coronavirus disease, also called COVID-19, is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It impacts people in unique ways. Some people have no signs or symptoms of active disease while others need care in a hospital. Severe cases of COVID-19 require breathing support with ventilators. Most people recover quickly with no lasting effects from the virus. Others, however, have residual symptoms for weeks and months after diagnosis. This group of individuals is growing and creating unique challenges for the healthcare professionals caring for them. This course discusses the long-term effects and problems associated with COVID-19. It also discusses risk factors related to lingering COVID-19 symptoms.
