Vision Impairment From Neurological Injury: Evaluation & Intervention

Visual deficits are common impairments associated with stroke and other neurologic events. In this course, occupational and physical therapy professionals will gain an understanding of the common visual impairments and associated clinical presentation in this population. In addition, this course provides learners with appropriate interventions and examples of goals to include in a rehabilitation plan of care. Case studies are used to model appropriate objective measures, assessment of progress, and clinical decision making. This course is for learners who understand the pathophysiology of neurologic events.

Julie received her Master’s Degrees in both Visual Disabilities and Occupational Therapy. She has over 26 years of experience in clinical rehabilitation settings to include Polytrauma (TBI), Blind Rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing, Home Health, inpatient rehabilitation, Research, and acute care. In addition, she has experience in both Low Vision and Vision Rehabilitation. For the past 5 ½ years, Julie has been working in the Research Service at the VA hospital in Tampa, Florida as a Research Occupational Therapist collecting data, recruiting Veterans, and is the Lead Project Manager for Whole Health Quality Improvement projects.
