Professional impairment is a significant risk factor for individuals receiving nursing care. A nurse’s inability to provide services in a manner consistent with generally accepted nursing standards, for whatever reason, increases the likelihood of adverse outcomes and is generally considered unethical.
This course is designed to assist you in identifying various signs of impairment in the workplace. It will also support the development of your capacity to identify self-impairment. The course will review various steps that can be taken if impairment is identified, as well as various aspects of organizational policy that can be implemented to reduce the likelihood that impairment will occur in the workplace.
Throughout the course, you will be guided through interactive learning exercises and activities that are meant to reinforce the material you are reviewing and enhance the learning experience.
The goal of this course is to provide nurses in the state of Florida with knowledge of best practices and applicable law surrounding impairment in the workplace.
