The goal of this course is to provide addictions, behavioral health counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, and social work professionals in health and human services with information on how to assess the risk of other-directed violence.
We offer examples of structured instruments to use in the risk assessment of other-directed violence. We are not endorsing any specific instruments and encourage you to explore existing options, keeping in mind important issues, such as availability, cost, and training requirements associated with any potential instrument.
This course will address correlates of other-directed violence in domestic, workplace, and community settings, including psychological, social, and situation-specific factors that increase risk. Best practices for evaluating the threat of other-directed violence will be discussed, including available assessment instruments that can be used to inform overall risk level. Interventions to reduce the risk of other-directed violence will be reviewed.

Enna earned a Master of Sciences in Clinical Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Forensic Concentration) in 2015. She has been licensed in California since 2017. She completed a one-year APA accredited internship with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Terminal Island, San Pedro, CA. She provided crisis intervention, treatment, and groups with severely mentally ill inmates, antisocial inmates, immigrant inmates, and those in segregated units. Enna currently works for Taylor Psychological Innovators as a forensic evaluator, a postdoc mentor, and chief of operations. The majority of her work involves conducting evaluations for federal and private immigration cases, criminal cases, and local police departments. She also provides treatment for different psychological disorders, offers consultation to attorneys, writes content, and develops strategy for business development. Bryn Davis received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & Sociology from the University of Virginia and a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lynchburg College. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina. She also holds a national certification as a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) through NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals. Additionally, she is certified as a Clinical Telemental Health Provider. Prior to joining Relias in 2020, she served as Clinical Director of a community mental health agency, developed an intensive treatment program for individuals diagnosed with substance use disorders, and provided outpatient counseling focused on trauma-informed care.
