An appendectomy is one of the most common surgical procedures in the world. The standard of care for removal of the appendix is laparoscopic appendectomy. However, some situations may warrant an open appendectomy. It is important for surgical techs to be knowledgeable and prepared to assist with both. The goal of this course is to educate surgical technologists about appendicitis, how it presents, the role of surgery, and possible complications.
This course is approved for surgical techs from 04/01/2021 to 03/31/2024.
