Overview: Administration of Common Medications-Respiratory Therapy

Overview: Administration of Common Medications-Respiratory Therapy

Aerosolized medication offers direct delivery of the drug to the target site, leading to a quick onset of action and reduced risk of systemic side effects. Respiratory therapists (RTs) must know how to match each patient with the most effective delivery method to meet their therapy goals and optimize clinical outcomes. In this module, RTs will learn the benefits and potential disadvantages of the different aerosol delivery devices and how to choose the most appropriate device based on patient characteristics. Tips for effective patient instruction and how to promote adherence are discussed.
