Individuals who are recovering from serious mental illness (SMI) are engaged in services across the continuum. As a mental health service provider within that continuum, you are an important member of the team that helps them with their recovery. Your ability to work effectively with this unique population can be enhanced and strengthened by an understanding of key information about SMI. The main goal of this course is to help you gain the knowledge you need to be an effective member of the treatment team. This course will provide you with essential information about serious mental illnesses, including symptoms, medications, treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery. This course is designed for you if you are new to the field of mental health, if you have limited mental health experience, or if you want to gain a better understanding of SMI. You will be engaged in a blend of didactic information, interactive exercises, and vignettes to help you understand and work more effectively with this population.
