This course addresses the proper method for determining diagnosis codes for outpatient hospital-based and physician office services using the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM). It also instructs the learner about the correct sequencing of ICD-10-CM codes of the first-listed and other diagnoses for outpatients. Coding guidelines for reporting common conditions, injuries, and other reasons for an encounter in the outpatient setting are also discussed.
