The Digestive System subsection in the Surgery section of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) code set contains codes for reporting a variety of procedures on the abdomen and accessory organs of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. This course provides an overview of digestive system procedures on the liver, biliary tract, and pancreas, as well as the abdomen, peritoneum, and omentum. The course also introduces the learner to the codes, format, guidelines, and common modifiers pertaining to these procedures in the CPT. The course will focus on identifying the appropriate code for procedures on the abdomen and accessory organs of the digestive system using case studies and scenarios. A current copy of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®), Professional Edition is strongly recommended to optimize your understanding of the content covered.
