This course covers the basic anatomy of the heart and circulatory system as part of the foundational knowledge needed for appropriate reporting of the cardiovascular system procedures. The cardiovascular surgical procedures are found in the Cardiovascular System subsection (33016-37799) within the Surgery section of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) code set. Additional cardiovascular procedure codes are included in the Medicine section (92920-93799), as well as in the Category III section. This course also introduces the learner to the format, guidelines, and common modifiers pertaining to the Cardiovascular System subsections. A current copy of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®), Professional Edition is strongly recommended to optimize your understanding of the content covered.
