In this course, you will learn strategies for establishing safe environments, tools for the accurate assessment of risk, tips for violence prevention, and techniques for defusing hostile situations.
This course provides general information about assessment, prevention, and intervention practices with clients with aggressive or hostile behavior. Please note that you should always follow the policies and procedures required in your workplace.
The goal of this course is to provide addictions professionals, behavioral health counselors, marriage and family therapists, nurses, and social workers in health and human service settings with tools and techniques to effectively de-escalate clients.

Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Professional Writing from The College of New Jersey and a Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University. She is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and has particular interest in resilience and secondary traumatic stress among behavioral health providers. The majority of Stephanie’s work has included behavioral health counseling and medical case management.
