Phlebotomy involves obtaining a blood sample for a medical biology analysis in the clinical laboratory. If a sample collection is poorly executed, the laboratory results for the testing of that sample may be inaccurate and mislead the clinician or lead to the inconvenience of the patient having to undergo multiple venipunctures. The teaching and review of correct phlebotomy procedures and best practice can help improve patient outcomes. The goal of this course is to educate healthcare professionals about best practices in phlebotomy and why they are important.
