Tetanus, although known to healthcare professionals in general, is not a common condition and its incidence has decreased significantly worldwide. This is a good thing but can become a problem when someone unfamiliar with tetanus is presented with it in the ED. The goal of this continuing education program is to acquaint or reacquaint radiologic technologists, nurses, and laboratory professionals with the risk factors, pathophysiology, signs, symptoms, and treatment modalities of tetanus and to encourage researchers to develop an easier way of diagnosing the condition. The content in this course is applicable to radiologic technologists, clinical laboratory professionals, and registered nurses.
