Domestic violence, also called intimate partner violence (IPV), is an epidemic in our society. This course will introduce you to the hidden victims of domestic violence, the millions of children and teenagers who are growing up in a home infected by domestic violence. The goal of this course is to raise awareness about this cultural crisis. Education and prevention are the keys to breaking the cycle. Parents must learn how to model non-violent behaviors. Children and teenagers need to be taught the difference between peaceful and violent behaviors, how to resolve their anger in a non-violent way, and that hurting another person in order to have power and control is NOT acceptable. EARLY intervention is crucial. You can BREAK the cycle of domestic violence by BREAKING the SILENCE!
