Deborah Flowers, MSN, CPNP-PC, is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who works as a program coordinator/nurse consultant for the North Carolina Child Medical Evaluation Program (NCCMEP). The NCCMEP is a collaborative program between the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) Department of Pediatrics and the NC State Division of Social Services and provides expert medical consultation to all county Department of Social Services in North Carolina with respect to the medical aspects of child abuse and neglect evaluations. Ms. Flowers also is a clinical assistant professor with the UNC-CH School of Medicine - Department of Pediatrics and adjunct clinical assistant professor with the UNC-CH School of Nursing. She has been a nurse for 29 years with 19 years in emergency nursing. The last eight years have been working in child abuse and neglect where she not only works in an administrative program but also serves as a medical consultant for the hospital child abuse team.
