Chronic ulcers have significant effects on patients’ physical and mental health, finances, and overall quality of life. The successful healing of a lower extremity ulcer requires thorough assessment to identify the correct etiology and determine the proper treatment regimen. Current research and clinical guidelines on venous and arterial ulcers are reviewed in this course. Complete healing of these chronic wounds is best achieved through an interprofessional approach.
