All surgical procedures are associated with some level of risk to the patient. Some of these risks are not preventable while others are. Infection of the surgical site is a complication that can be prevented in most situations. As a surgical technologist, you have a responsibility for helping to ensure steps are taken to prevent the development of surgical site infections. The goal of this course is to educate surgical technologists on the prevention of surgical site infections.
