We are granted certain rights, protections, and freedoms by our government. Our rights, protections, and freedoms enable us to make independent decisions regarding all aspects of our life. When individuals are admitted to a health care organization, they do not lose any of their rights, protections, or freedoms. As a health care worker, you have the ethical and legal responsibility to protect the rights of individuals under the care of the health care organization where you work. In this course, you will learn about the rights the individuals you care for have and ways you can protect these rights.
