Mounting evidence and growing awareness in the healthcare field show that a small percentage of people utilize a very large percentage of behavioral health and somatic care resources. These high-end users are often prone to a variety of types of crises that can result in frequent use of emergent and high-cost care. Case management services are critical to ensure that a risk reduction approach and crisis prevention planning are used throughout the course of intervention. This course discusses crisis prevention and planning for case managers and care coordinators within payer organizations as well as others who manage the care of individuals with complex needs.
