Continual advancements in surgical technologies require flexibility and ongoing training of staff. While equipment is becoming more sophisticated, it is also becoming more user-friendly and not as complicated to operate. The key to successfully adopting and embracing technical advancements is active participation in training, such as this course. In this course, a variety of technologies and equipment will be reviewed. The safety considerations and evidence-based practices for using equipment and electronics will also be discussed.
The goal of this course is to educate nurses and STs about risks and safety precautions associated with equipment and electronics in the OR.

She has developed skills to become versatile in both the circulator and scrub roles for a variety of surgical specialties. She fulfilled numerous nursing leadership responsibilities as the Surgical Services Clinical Educator and Periop 101 instructor. As an educator, she was an active member of several committees tasked with creating a safe and efficient environment that promotes optimal patient outcomes. Additionally, she has experience as an inpatient surgical nurse in roles including charge nurse, admission/discharge facilitator, 24-hour short-stay operations, and preceptor.
