The juvenile justice system, much like the adult justice system, has a high number of youth with behavioral health issues. It is important for professionals that provide services to justice-involved youth to have information on common behavioral health concerns among justice-involved youth, and effective approaches to addressing those concerns within the context of the legal system.
The goal of this course is to provide entry level addictions, behavioral health counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, and social work professionals with education about common behavioral health concerns of justice involved youth; effective screening, assessment, and intervention strategies; as well as pertinent legal considerations.
