Anxiety is a state that exists on a continuum ranging from a useful response to stress to a paralyzing state of fear. It can manifest as a chronic feeling of tension or an overwhelming and disabling panic that causes physical symptoms mimicking a life-threatening medical emergency. Medical professionals will encounter patients that suffer from anxiety and may suffer from anxiety themselves. This course provides an overview of five anxiety disorders that cause anxiety: generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), specific phobia, panic disorder, agoraphobia, and social anxiety disorder. After completion of this course, healthcare professionals will have up-to-date clinical knowledge about identifying and treating the most common types of anxiety disorders.
The goal of this course is to provide healthcare professionals with information about screening for, identifying, and treating common anxiety disorders.
