End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is the most severe form of chronic kidney disease (CKD), at which stage the kidneys are no longer capable of filtering the body's waste. At this stage, patients must receive regular dialysis or undergo a kidney transplant. This course will cover coding and reporting dialysis procedures and other services to treat end-stage renal disease using the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) code set. This course introduces the learner to the format of the codes located in several different sections of the CPT code set, as well as pertinent guidelines, and common modifiers used with the dialysis and ESRD procedure codes. The course will focus on identifying the appropriate code for these procedures using case studies and scenarios. A current copy of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®), Professional Edition is strongly recommended to optimize your understanding of the content covered.
