Electrical Stimulation Modalities

 

This course guides learners through the general considerations and specific applications/treatment techniques with proven research for three (3) contemporary and popular electrical stimulation modalities (e.g. TENS, Interferential Estim, and Neuromuscular NMES). The purpose of this continuing education course is to teach the learner how to safely, effectively, and efficiently apply electrical stimulation modality treatments.

Instructor: Eric Oestmann, PHD, MS, PT
Mr. Oestmann holds advanced degrees in Physical Therapy and Health Services Administration. His clinical experience includes nine years of practice in a variety of settings, including out-patient, in-patient, neuro rehabilitation, long-term care, and work hardening. One of his areas of specialization is in spinal assessments and rehabilitation. In addition, Dr. Oestmann has written over 21 healthcare related textbooks for Charles C. Thomas Publisher and East-West Publishing. Dr. Oestmann currently continues his writing, teaching and consulting in healthcare. Polly Warring, MSPT is a physical therapist who has worked in the physical therapy field since 1992. During her time in the physical therapy field, she has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient, acute care, skilled nursing, and specialized programs for children with ADHD. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University in 1990 and graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Houston in 1997. While there, she was part of a research team that published an abstract in the May, 1997 edition of the Physical Therapy Journal: “Quantification of EMG Activity from Five Muscles in Comparison of Four Methods of Rising from Sitting”.
