The purpose of this course is to familiarize the learner with seizure disorders and how they affect people living in the community living environment. The anatomy and function of the nervous system is discussed. This course engages the learner in discovering different types of seizures including those that are not related to epilepsy. Information is provided about signs and symptoms, triggers and care interventions that can be provided to a person with seizures. Diagnostic tests, treatments, and when a seizure is life threatening is discussed.
