Work is an important part of a person’s life. However, few people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, or IDD, have jobs in the general workforce. People with IDD have a lot to offer as employees but need support to overcome barriers to working. Employment supports can help a person with IDD find and succeed in a job.

In this course, you will learn about why employment is important for people with disabilities. You will learn about different types of employment and the people who can help a person find work. Finally, you will learn about strategies for helping people you support find and succeed in a job.

The goal of this educational program is to provide direct support professionals in intellectual and developmental disability services with knowledge of employment supports.
