Nutrition and diet play major roles in the management of diabetes. Direct support professionals (DSPs) must educate and empower the people they support to be active participants in managing their diabetes. Doing so can help delay or prevent disease complications. This course will review the role nutrition plays in managing diabetes, common barriers to healthy eating, and counseling techniques to help the people you support be successful.
The goal of this course is to educate DSPs in intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) settings on the impact of nutrition on diabetes.
