Pain is universal. It is a subjective experience that can be either acute or chronic. An estimated 1 in every 5 American adults is affected by chronic pain on a daily basis, leading to hundreds of billions of dollars of lost productivity and tens of billions in drug costs (Yong et al., 2022). The focus of this course is on the role of non-opioid analgesics commonly used to treat pain, primarily acetaminophen (APAP) and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs), and will offer a comprehensive look at general, non-cancer pain management.
