This course provides an overview of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) code B20, located in Chapter 1, "Certain Infectious and Parasitic Diseases" (A00-B99). Also covered are asymptomatic human immunodeficiency virus [HIV] infection status (Z21) and inconclusive laboratory evidence of human immunodeficiency virus [HIV] (R75). Opportunistic infections and AIDS-defining conditions are included along with diagnostic workup and treatments. The ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting pertaining to HIV infections, Section I.C.1.a, are presented and reviewed.
