Thiscourse will introduce the student to the basic issues of personnel administration including the legal duties, proper business ethics as well as the social responsibilities. It will examine the laws that regulate employment relationships (i.e. Americans with Disabilities Act, The Rehabilitation Act of 1973, The Civil Rights Act of 1991, and The Family & Medical Leave Act of 1993). The legal responsibilities and rights of the employer and employee will further be explained, as well as privacy, confidentiality and disclosure issues in the workplace. The laws and regulations concerning discrimination and harassment are also discussed.
