Older adults with chronic pulmonary diseases such as COPD, asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema often develop associated speech and swallowing disorders. These individuals may require SLP interventions to assure verbal communication, nutrition, and hydration and to reduce the risk of aspiration. This course will describe the role of the SLP and various assessments that may be utilized in evaluating for speech and swallowing disorders for this population.
